Rotary Multipurpose Foam Pad
The new very thick foam pad (50mm) from RUPES for industrial and professional rotary polishing. Heavy-duty use.
from €100 of purchase.
This RUPES pad with a diameter of 160 mm and a thickness of 50 mm features a specific non-cross-linked closed-cell foam. This allows the effectiveness of abrasive polishes to be maintained for longer during your cutting phase.
This Rotary Multipurpose Foam Pad is to be used exclusively on a rotary machine such as the RUPES LH19E with a 150mm (6") backing plate. You can use any kind of abrasive polish (compound) on this pad, for example the Rotary Coarse.
The advantage of having such a significant thickness on this pad is the very high durability of the pad and the ability to tackle curved shapes more easily, even if you opt for a semi-rigid machine backing plate.
Rupes has become the reference when it comes to orbital polishers and polishing pads. Rupes pads are developed to be compatible with the polishes from the same brand.
How to use the RUPES Rotary Multipurpose Foam Pad?
- Ensure you choose the correct backing plate size for this pad (a 6-inch or 150mm backing plate is required to use this pad).
- Center your pad on your backing plate.
- Apply a few pea-sized drops of polish (e.g., Rotary Coarse) directly onto the pad for initial use to thoroughly prime the entire foam face. Spread evenly across the foam surface with your finger. For subsequent passes, 3 pea-sized drops of polish will be sufficient.
- Spread your polish quickly at low speed (approx. 900 RPM) over a restricted work area (approx. 60x60cm).
- Next, work your polish at high speed (1500-1800 RPM). Be careful not to apply excessive pressure on sharp body lines and edges.
- Finish your pass when the remaining polish film becomes very thin, nearly transparent.
- Wipe away polish residue with a suitable microfiber towel (e.g., COCKTAIL MICROFIBERS Black Velvet) using a panel wipe/inspection spray (e.g., RUPES Reveal Lite).
- Inspect your finish, then follow up with a finishing polish and an appropriate pad.
Tip: Remember to regularly clean your pad with a dedicated cleaning solution such as ZviZZer Pad Cleaner to keep your pad completely free of polish residue and prevent fibers from caking. Your work and results will be significantly better. Spray Pad Cleaner directly onto the pad, work it into the foam with your fingers, and then wipe clean with a microfiber towel or run the pad through a Pad Washer.
