Glass Cleaning & Protection
Why is this one of the most interesting tutorials?
This tutorial doesn't have a purely aesthetic purpose. It is true that it is pleasant to achieve completely clear windows, free of fingerprints that can spoil the visual appearance of a vehicle. However, properly deep-cleaning your windows and protecting them also ensures greater safety. Your field of vision on the road will be improved by cleaning your windows, and the hydrophobic effect of synthetic waxes for the windshield will allow water to evacuate much more quickly. Back to the main subject... How to do it?! :)
Essential products & accessories?
- 1 glass cleaner
- 1 glass microfiber cloth
- 1 glass polish
- 1 suitable applicator
- 1 hydrophobic protection
- 1 suitable applicator
This tutorial can be broken down into several steps, here they are:
- Glass cleaning
Nothing could be simpler: just spray the product onto the glass surface and wipe it with a suitable microfiber cloth. The Microfiber Glass, Valet Pro for example guarantees a streak-free result. Don't forget to clean the interior surface of the glass.
- Light polishing to deep clean
Your windows are now clean but only in a "superficial" way. Indeed, you have removed the dirt, but contaminations such as road film, industrial fallout or simply pollution are still present. To remove them and to prepare the surface for the application of a protective coating, it is important to lightly polish the glass surface using a suitable applicator.
In the video above we use Car Glass Polish by Autoglym. Others are just as effective, such as G4 Glass Polish by Gtechniq or the one from the brand Nanolex.
Apply a few drops onto the applicator and rub the surface in circular motions. Wipe off after the appearance of a light white haze.
- Applying the protection
It all depends on the protection you want. With a G5, Gtechniq as in the video, simply apply the product using straight-line movements and leave it for 15 minutes before wiping off.
The most important thing is not to expose the vehicle to rain during the few hours that follow.
