Description

Colourlock Leather Fixative is a leather dye fixative designed to stabilize unstable dyes that may bleed. It is used in particular on heavily dyed leathers (often aniline or natural leathers) in order to reduce the risk of transfer onto clothing, hands or other surfaces.

Its principle: a soaking treatment before washing, to "lock in" the dye and limit color loss, watermarks and marks after contact with water. Ideal for leather items that go in the washing machine (according to the manufacturer's care recommendations) or before a re-dyeing process.

The result: more stable, cleaner leather… and a color that stays in place. Fix, wash, enjoy: the leather keeps its style!

How to use Colourlock Leather Fixative?

  1. Dust the leather (with a soft brush) and ensure it is free of oily grime.

  2. In a basin, mix 50 ml of product with 5 to 10 L of warm water (adjust according to the item).

  3. Completely submerge the leather item (it must be thoroughly covered).

  4. Let soak for at least 60 minutes, stirring gently from time to time.

  5. Drip dry without rinsing (unless specifically instructed otherwise for your leather).

  6. Next, place the item in the washing machine (using a cycle suitable for leather/as recommended by the manufacturer): fixation takes place prior to washing.

  7. Allow to dry naturally (air dry away from direct heat sources) and restore suppleness if needed with a dedicated leather conditioner.

Tips:

  • For heavily dyed motorcycle gear, a higher dosage may be used (often recommended at 100 ml depending on the case).

  • Always perform a test on an inconspicuous area if the leather is rare, very delicate, or vintage.
