GYEON is one of the most technically advanced brands in the industry, if not the most advanced. Its ceramic range is very broad and regularly innovates to offer new products in line with current trends.

Today, PPF (Paint Protection Film) is becoming increasingly common in detailing. The ability of this material to provide physical protection against stone chips and moderate scratches makes it highly valuable.

However, this material requires specific maintenance and protection in order to age well and avoid any negative consequences (peeling, yellowing, etc.).

GYEON thus offers a range of three products dedicated to PPF: a shampoo (Q2M PPF Wash), a ceramic coating (Q2 PPF), and finally a quick detailer/quick wax to boost the treatment or quickly dust off your car (Q2M PPF Maintain).

This article will allow you to discover the range and learn a little more about these highly specific products.


Presentation of Q2M PPF Wash:



Q2M PPF Wash is the go-to shampoo for all treatments applied to PPF or even on an unprotected film. The problem with PPF films that are not treated is the deep embedding of contaminants (dried bug splatter, metallic contaminants, etc.).
Q2M PPF Wash will clean and dissolve ferrous deposits on the film without any risk of damaging any protection that may have been applied on top.

Its dosage is very economical as you only need to use approximately 20ml in a 10L bucket of water (dilution 1:500).

As always with GYEON, shampoos come with a micro-pump dispenser. Practical or not, that's debatable, but it at least allows you to perfectly measure the quantity of product.



Q2M PPF Wash is a product that lathers heavily — a dense and generous foam. The product has no particular scent, or a very slightly unpleasant one (perhaps due to the presence of a ferrous decontaminant?).

Once diluted in the bucket, it is worth noting that the solution does not feel particularly slick under the finger. This is already the case with other shampoo references from the brand (Q2M Bathe, Q2M Bathe+).



The glide of the wash mitt is quite surprising despite the lack of lubrication mentioned. The few bugs on the front end come off effortlessly.

Also, it is noticeable that Q2M PPF Wash respects the protective treatment applied to the PPF. It reactivates the hydrophobic effect.




Even when used in direct sunlight, Q2M PPF Wash does not leave marks on the film as some other ceramic-dosed shampoos do. With this type of coating (PPF), it is essential to minimise the risk of mistakes, as it cannot be polished — or only with great difficulty.

Q2M PPF Wash also proves to be an economical shampoo in use, as a 400ml bottle allows up to 20 washes for €17.95 — less than one euro per wash. For a specialist product, that is very competitive.






Presentation of Q2 PPF (coating):

As mentioned earlier, in order to prevent deep contamination of a PPF film and to seal its porosity, it is advisable to apply a protective ceramic treatment. But not just any one — a specifically very flexible ceramic treatment for vinyl films.

GYEON has therefore recently developed Q2 PPF with a complete kit.



The packaging is, as always, beautiful and appealing with GYEON. The translucent yellow packaging contains the 50ml treatment vial and all the accessories needed for its application — though not all of them, as we will come back to shortly. The accessories are of high quality as well.

Here is the contents of the kit:

- 1x 50ml vial of Q2 PPF treatment
- 4x 10x10cm suede cloths
- 1x foam applicator block
- 1x instruction leaflet



We mentioned earlier how complete the kit is. In reality, one would have also liked to find a 40x40cm suede microfibre cloth, as can be found with direct competitors. Especially since GYEON offers this accessory for individual sale. It is not fundamentally a problem, but it would have been desirable and appreciated. It ensures the final wipe-down after the initial wipes with standard double-sided microfibre cloths.

The first thing to do before applying Q2 PPF to your film is to thoroughly degrease it with an ISO alcohol-based solution such as Q2M Prep from the brand.
This essential product will ensure perfect adhesion of the treatment to the film by removing all traces of oils or gloss agents from products previously applied to it.

The application of Q2 PPF is then in line with all other ceramic treatments, with one difference. The amount of product to use will be slightly greater than with a standard ceramic for clear-coated paint. That is why you will find the Q2 PPF vial in 50ml rather than 30ml.

On the first application, generously pour a line of product onto one of the four suede cloths wrapped around the applicator block.





The application of the product onto the PPF is effortless — the block glides on its own, and the product feels quite greasy (thick). Greasier than a ceramic treatment for clear-coated paint.
Make sure to limit the application to sections of 60x60cm, always using criss-cross movements (left/right and top/bottom).



The particular feature of ceramic treatments for films is that they are more forgiving of errors in flash time or the application itself. You can easily treat all 4 sections of a hood, for example, before starting to wipe, unless the temperature in your workspace is close to or exceeds 25°C, in which case you will need to reduce the flash time. That said, there is no benefit to leaving Q2 PPF on the surface for more than 30 seconds, but you do have that extra leeway.

Also, in the event of an application error, even after 12 hours, know that you can remove PPF Coating and all other types of vinyl ceramics with ISO alcohol or the Q2M Prep applied earlier.



Then wipe with two double-sided microfibre cloths (such as the Black Velvet, for example). Two microfibre cloths are preferable because PPF Coating is quite greasy and can quickly saturate the cloth.

Wiping is done without any difficulty and there is very little streaking to complain about (a product that is hard to wipe and leaves a greasy haze with each microfibre pass). You can then complete your wipe with a 40x40cm suede cloth to ensure all remaining product vapours are removed.



Q2 PPF can be applied to all materials that have received a PPF film (polycarbonate lights, coated plastics, glass…).



The finish of the film after application is truly stunning. It appears even more glossy and above all more oily-looking.
The visual result will be at its maximum after 24 hours, which corresponds to the minimum drying time of the treatment without needing to expose the vehicle to water.



Some summary information for the correct application of the Q2 PPF treatment from GYEON:

- Degreasing with Q2M Prep is mandatory (or any other isopropyl alcohol-based solution).
- Application temperature ideally between 15–25°C and as little humidity as possible.
- Apply in a criss-cross motion (left/right and top/bottom).
- 30 seconds of flash time is sufficient.
- Wipe off with two microfibre cloths (and a 3rd suede one as a precaution).
- 1 coat is sufficient.
- Keep dry for a minimum of 24 hours.


Presentation of Q2M PPF Maintain:



The last product to present: Q2M PPF Maintain. This is a product with a very wide range of uses. It is a finishing and maintenance product that adds the final touch once your maintenance washes are complete.

It can be placed in the family of Quick Detailers / Quick Wax, also known as Ceramic Boosters.

Its silicon dioxide-enriched formula will, with each use, reinforce the hydrophobic properties of your film protection, while delivering an incredible smoothness.

Two possible uses: on a dry surface or on a wet surface. For the latter, simply spray PPF Maintain directly onto your filmed car while it is still wet after rinsing. Then dry everything off and you're done.

For use on a dry surface, shake the bottle well and then spray Q2M PPF Maintain onto a microfibre cloth rather than directly onto the film.








Q2M PPF Maintain is easy to apply, but make sure to thoroughly buff off the product haze once applied. Two microfibre cloths are indeed necessary for this.

It will not leave a haze as a Carpro Reload might, for example, but it will still be slightly greasier to wipe off than a GYEON Cure Matte.

On the other hand, the finish obtained after application is extremely silky. It is therefore highly recommended for PPF films even if they are not protected by a coating. Indeed, quite often a PPF film does not feel silky to the touch. Q2M PPF Maintain helps remedy this issue.



Q2M PPF Maintain will also be the product to absolutely keep in your glove box to deal with any unexpected situation (bug splatter before it dries, bird droppings, oil or fuel stains…).

Only the price of the Q2 PPF treatment may seem off-putting, but once again, remember that only a single coat is recommended by the manufacturer, so the cost per application will be roughly the same as a ceramic treatment for clear-coated paint.
