GYEON offers a complete kit to protect your matte vehicle with ceramic.

It is always challenging to find a product that protects a matte car without making it shine, especially among ceramic ranges. GYEON Q2 Matte was developed with this in mind. Once applied, the treatment will provide durable protection (12-18 months) while respecting the matte appearance without adding any shine.

Each kit contains:

- 1 vial of Q2 Matte treatment 50ml
- 1 bottle of Q2 Cure Matte (maintenance).
- 4x application suede cloths
- 1x Applicator Block
- 1 Instruction Manual.

Application:

Before applying the treatment, excellent preparation of the surface is required. Indeed, matte is a fairly delicate surface in the sense that during your preparation, you will not be able to mechanically decontaminate (mitt, clay, etc.) nor polish the base for bonding. You will therefore need to rely solely on a chemical preparation phase.

Thus, a good pre-wash and wash are essential, but iron decontamination (Q2M Iron ideal for this) or tar removal from the surface (Q2M Tar) must be particularly thorough. These products can be applied and worked in with a microfibre without risk on matte finishes.




Once your surfaces are perfectly clean, decontaminated and dry, you will first need to apply an Oil Cleaner (alcohol-based degreaser) to remove the last traces of products present on the surface. To do this, use Q2M Prep, perfect for this task.
Spray directly onto the surface and wipe with a microfibre (Blue Lagoon is sufficient). Make sure no surface remains damp before applying the treatment.



Next comes the actual application of the treatment. Q2 Matte consists of the vial with a cap, a drop-by-drop dispenser and also a separate pipette. You will need to install the pipette in place of the drop-by-drop dispenser in order to better control the amount of product on the application suede cloth.

Then pour a line of Q2 Matte onto the suede cloth wrapped around the applicator block and spread the product over an area of 60x60cm maximum using crossed linear movements (criss-cross).



The application of Q2 Matte is slightly different from a ceramic for varnished vehicles in the sense that you can clearly feel the much greasier aspect of the ceramic and the fact that the suede cloth tends to drag on the surface. A completely normal and understandable phenomenon due to the textured nature of the surface which tends to slow the glide.



Allow the product to flash for approximately 1 minute on the surface and wipe before it dries completely. Use a short-pile microfibre (Bald Wipe for example). Pay particular attention to your wiping as once dry, the treatment cannot be corrected in case of error!



Once the treatment has been applied to the entire vehicle, wait approximately 3 hours before then applying Q2 Cure Matte. This product will create a protective layer over the treatment and prevent water-spotting (dried water droplets on the surface). Indeed, Q2 Matte will continue to cure for 14 days after application, hence the usefulness of Q2 Cure Matte.



Q2 Cure Matte is in fact the equivalent of a sealant whose purpose is also to maintain your protection approximately every 3-4 washes.

Its application is very simple. Simply impregnate a short-pile microfibre with Q2 Cure Matte and apply it directly to the bodywork. The application can be slightly unsettling as you get the impression of not applying any product to this matte finish. Do not overload the microfibre with product. The feel once the application is complete is very silky and changes completely.





Once the Cure has been applied, you can use your car straight away, but you will still need to wait approximately 5 days before carrying out your first wash. The hydrophobic effect is immediate and very pronounced, which will greatly facilitate your future cleaning sessions.



The result left by the Q2 Matte combination ultimately respects the matte finish, without adding shine but adding a very slight satin effect. It is therefore important to be aware of this, or to inform your client before applying this type of treatment if you wish to maintain an absolute matte finish.

The very soft feel is pleasant, and the hydrophobic effect is very pronounced. Durability from experience sits closer to 12 months rather than the 18 months announced by the manufacturer, but this is still very good for this type of finish.

Our opinion:

There are truly very (too) few long-lasting treatments specifically developed for matte finishes. Nanolex also offers its nano treatment but it is slightly more delicate to apply.
GYEON Q2 Matte is a treatment that can be applied by anyone who is already familiar with applying ceramic coatings. It will be slightly greasier and harder to spread at the end of a pass but nothing alarming, as buffing remains very simple.
The finish is just right, a matter of taste thereafter. Fans of absolute matte will however find the finish too satin-like.

A treatment of choice in our opinion for anyone wishing to protect their car durably with a perfectly compatible product.
