Description

LongWool Pad is a natural, very thick wool pad designed for very heavy corrections (deep scratches, various scuffs, encrusted bird droppings, oxidation haze).

The manufacturing quality of the wool is exemplary, with fibers that do not fray.

This wool pad is to be used in the most severe cases and will help limit heat build-up during use.

Make sure to thoroughly prime your wool pad before its first use so as not to work it dry on the clear coat.

Hand washable with lukewarm water, rinse thoroughly. Do not machine wash.

Abrasiveness: 9

Preferably used with the Heavy Cut H9.02 polish or any other compound from another brand and with a rotary polisher.

How to use the Koch Chemie LongWool Pad?

  1. Make sure to choose the right pad size for your backing plate (e.g., a 135 mm size is suitable for a 125mm / 5" machine backing plate).
  2. Center the pad on your backing plate.
  3. Generously spread compound/polish (e.g., Heavy Cut Scratch Remover HC 4000) across all the fibers to properly prime the pad for the first application. Afterwards, a few pea-sized drops will be sufficient.
  4. Spread your polish quickly at low speed over an area no larger than 60x60cm.
  5. Then work your polish at high speed (speed setting 6 on a dual action polisher or 1,300/1,800 rpm on a rotary) using slow, overlapping straight passes.
  6. Finish working once the residual polish film is very thin, almost transparent.
  7. Wipe off the polish residue using an appropriate microfiber towel (e.g., Black Velvet) along with a small amount of Clean Top (alcohol-based).
  8. Inspect your finish and follow with a protective wax or sealant.

Tip: Regularly clean your pad with the ZviZZer Pad Cleaner cleaning solution to fluff up the wool fibers and remove any stickiness caused by polish dust. Your work and results will be significantly better. Spray Pad Cleaner directly onto the pad, work it into the fibers with your fingers, and then wipe everything off with a microfiber towel or run the pad through a Pad Washer.
