New release by SONAX: Beast. The name says it all. Expect a beast of a cleaner.
Beast is at its core an acid-free wheel cleaner, but it also doubles as an iron decontaminant. Two products in one, in short. It is compatible with all types of wheels: lacquered, alloy, chrome, satin, matte, etc.

We are going to test the "Beast" in this review, on the wheels of a vehicle with over 100,000 km on the clock, with no protection, and whose last wash was more than 4 months ago.

Usage:

Beast is available in a ready-to-use 1L bottle (like any iron decontaminant). The spray bottle included has already been seen on other products in the range (Brillant Shine, Wheel Cleaner Plus).

Note that Beast is acid-free. You should still make sure to spray the product only on cold wheels. If you are unsure, dampen them beforehand before spraying the product.



The product is so viscous that the spray pattern is not very wide. There is no adjustment on the sprayer, so you end up with a very directional spray rather than a uniform one like with more liquid products. It is quite surprising but you get used to it.
On the other hand, you tend to use more product.

Beast adheres really well to the wheel, which allows the chemical action to be even more effective on contaminants.



The color change occurs quite quickly and you can let Beast work on the surface for quite a long time. The characteristic purple turns to a very dark burgundy even on the most contaminated areas.





Let's also talk about the product's smell. SONAX claims a fruity scent. This is indeed the case. You even get a candy-like smell, but be aware that this added fragrance can quickly become overwhelming over time.

The test wheel was then divided into two sections. The left side was scrubbed (brushes, soft brushes) while the right side was not. This will allow us to assess the product's effectiveness even without agitation on a wheel with nearly 100,000 km and no particular maintenance.



As soon as the half-wheel was done, the effectiveness of Beast became apparent. The wheel regains its aluminum color without much effort. Quite impressive for a single pass.



Don't forget to rinse your wheel thoroughly afterwards, ideally with a pressure washer to fully flush out the product. You should not let Beast act on the surface for too long. As soon as you start to see a slightly golden color appearing, it is definitely time to rinse.





In the photo below, after rinsing, you can see the result on the left side which is impeccable (or nearly so) and on the right side which could be improved (not agitated with brushes).
Nevertheless, Beast is remarkably effective after just a single pass. Even on the inner part of the wheel!



Looking a little more closely, some details on the left side could still be refined. Some iron oxide deposits have not been removed. This is perfectly normal after just one single pass.
Beast is then sprayed a second time on the wheel and left to work.







To make the task even easier, we will use a piece of clay bar to combine the chemical action with a mechanical one.
Be sure to choose a clay bar that is resistant to the chemical action of the decontaminant product (CARPRO or GYEON clay, for example).





The result is significantly better after this mechanical work. Keep the clay bar exclusively for wheel work and not for the bodywork.
Rinse the product thoroughly afterwards.





Conclusion:

In the end, what stands out about Beast is its extremely effective action against ferrous particles, its very appreciable gel texture that promotes its action on the surface, and its less nauseating smell compared to other products on the market.

Also worth noting is the excellent value for money: €17.95 for 1L of product. It is simply the best price per liter you can find among the major references (Iron X, Iron 7 HD, Iron, etc.)

Finally, let's look at the product consumption after a double pass on each of the 4 wheels of the vehicle.
The bottle is still just over half full, which is very good.



Ultimately, a product you absolutely must try for its overall effectiveness, but above all so you can test another reference. If you are used to working with Iron X or others, try Beast and make up your own mind.
