Primer, Polish, Compound - GYEON

Description: GYEON's reputation speaks for itself, with consistently highly effective products, particularly their nanotechnology range. All that was missing was the correction phase absent from their catalogue. This has been addressed with the arrival of 3 polishes for each abrasive class (compound, intensive and finishing).

Available in 120ml packaging to test the range or for small renovations, and in 1L if you have many vehicles to restore.

In order to test the GYEON range, we chose to start with an intermediate approach (always start this way and increase aggressiveness as needed) with a Medium pad (Green) from RUPES mounted on a RUPES Bigfoot LHR15mk2 orbital polisher.

Instructions for use:

GYEON Polish: On first use on a pad, or on a used but cleaned pad, apply GYEON Polish in a peripheral circle on your pad. Afterwards, you can use less, with 4 outer dots for example.

Work GYEON Polish in cross passes on a surface of 60x60cm maximum. The advantage of this polish lies in its good cutting ability combined with an excellent level of finish. Furthermore, it produces very little dust. Also, one can notice in the photo below that the dull haze and minor defects are corrected, but major defects (deeper scratches, deeply embedded insect remains) remain. You therefore need to increase aggressiveness and use GYEON Compound.

GYEON Compound: In order to test the capabilities of GYEON Compound alone, we deliberately chose to stay with a green (Medium) RUPES pad to study its performance compared to GYEON Polish.

If you nonetheless wish to have even more aggressiveness with your combination, you can naturally opt for an even more aggressive pad such as a Rupes Coarse (Blue), a UHS, or any other Hard Cutting pad.

The application on the pad is done in the same way as with GYEON Compound. Its texture is quite liquid for a compound.

Its cutting ability (cut) compared to GYEON Polish is obviously greater, and the deep defects that previously remained are removed without any problem.

It is also remarkable to note that the finish left by GYEON Compound is excellent, and on certain permissive shades (white, light grey), an ultra-finishing polish would not add much more...

GYEON Primer: This is the ultra-finishing polish in the GYEON range. Like any finishing polish, it is quite liquid as it is mainly composed of oils. The test was carried out using a RUPES Diamond White finishing pad.

Use less polish than with GYEON Compound or GYEON Polish, as a finishing polish being quite oily will spread much more easily by default.

GYEON Primer is very pleasant to work with, produces no dust, and leaves an exceptional finish with very high gloss and depth. On a black paint, the result must be even more spectacular.

The great advantage of GYEON Primer is that it prepares the surface to receive the ceramic coating. Therefore, if you wish to apply this type of treatment afterwards, do not use an Oil Cleaner (such as GYEON Prep or CARPRO Eraser).

Advantages

+ Excellent cut/finish ratio of the Compound.
+ Spectacular finish of the Primer and base for ceramic coating.
+ Little dust produced by the entire range.

Disadvantages 

- Discouraging price of 1L containers

- No intermediate packaging between 130ml and 1L


Our opinion: Very impressed by the finish of GYEON Compound for such an aggressive polish. What remains nevertheless most remarkable is the low level of dust generated by these polishes, which is very beneficial for the Detailer during heavy restoration work involving numerous compound passes.

Also, the level of finish provided by the Primer is truly splendid, bringing out the metallic flake and the paint color. The interesting aspect remains undeniably the fact that it prepares the surface for ceramic coating adhesion, although on this point, this feature was already found among the competition...

Finally, the price of 1L containers may deter some users, and no intermediate packaging (such as 250ml or 500ml) is currently available.
