Presentation:

Ultra Glass by Nanolex is the most durable protection product for your exterior glass surfaces. It will spare you from using your windshield wipers above 60km/h, providing a great level of driving comfort.

Nanolex, a German reference in nanotechnology protection treatments, offers with Ultra Glass a durability of up to 25,000km on the windshield and over 60,000km on other glass surfaces! It is safe to say that on paper, Ultra Glass surpasses all its direct competitors.
It is difficult in this test to verify these claims, but we will already test the ease of application of Ultra Glass and its wiping performance. Indeed, certain products from other brands often present difficulties with wiping in particular.

Usage:

Ultra Glass is available exclusively in a 30ml vial. Nanolex advertises a remarkably low product consumption (2ml/m² of treated surface), which in theory would allow treatment of up to 15m² of glass (roughly 4–5 vehicles).

First and foremost, you will need to thoroughly clean and above all degrease your glass surfaces with an IPA-based product (isopropyl alcohol). Do not simply use a glass cleaner based on alcohol, and even less so a glass cleaner with hydrophobic agents (such as Stoner Invisible Glass Rain Repellent). This could negatively affect the adhesion of the treatment.

Nanolex offers EX as an alcohol-based degreasing solution, but you can use any similar product (here Optimus by Alchimy7).

If your glass surfaces have never received a proper preparation, you will first need to lightly polish them with a glass polish (Glass Polish by Nanolex is excellent).



Nanolex does not include application accessories like its competitors (Gyeon View, Fictech Windshield, etc.). A "Ultra Glass Sealant Kit" does exist, however, but not the applicators sold separately.
This is a minor downside, as if you have never applied ceramic paint coatings in particular, you will need to invest in purchasing application suede cloths and an applicator block. You could do it with cotton simply, but we find it much less ergonomic. Also, cotton absorbs too much product compared to suede.

Take a 10x10cm suede cloth, wrap it around the applicator block and pour a line of product. At the start you will need to use a little more product to saturate the suede.



The dropper on the bottle is very practical as it allows you to precisely control the number of drops desired on the suede. With the dispensing systems of competing products, it is not uncommon to end up with too much product on the applicator as the liquid comes out all at once.

Then treat sections of 60cm x 60cm maximum using crossed linear movements.
You will notice that very quickly, you can no longer see the product spreading — it will become invisible.
That does not mean you are not applying it!!
This is the whole trick to applying Ultra Glass. You need to spread it as thinly as possible to ensure a uniform layer, but above all to facilitate the subsequent wiping. Do not hesitate to apply some pressure on the applicator in order to work the product well into the glass.

Your product layer must be invisible once properly spread. Do not hesitate to make several crossed passes.



The example on the quarter window below is quite telling. In the image, the application is too generous. You can see the product in a thick layer once applied.





Pay particular attention to the corners of windows where one is often less careful during application. Do not leave any excess coating — spread Ultra Glass thoroughly.



Once your surfaces have been treated, use the remaining product on your suede cloth to coat the blades of your windshield wipers. This will improve their glide and prevent the skipping that is often encountered with hydrophobic treatments that dry out the glass.



Once your treatment has been perfectly applied everywhere, you can proceed with wiping. This should be straightforward as the residual haze of product should be so minimal that it is barely visible.
Preferably use two microfiber cloths.

You can already feel the slickness created by Ultra Glass on the glass surfaces during wiping — the surfaces are very smooth.



Important note: After wiping, leave the treated surfaces untouched. Come back 1 hour later as the evaporation of the treatment's solvents may cause a thin, light grey film to reappear. This is perfectly normal — you will need to perform a second wipe with a fresh microfiber cloth.

Post-application recommendations:

It will be essential to keep the vehicle dry for 12 hours after application (avoid exposure to rain in particular).
You must not wash the car for 72 hours or expose it to chemical agents during this period, as this risks reducing the durability of the treatment.


General conclusion on the product:

Nanolex is a brand renowned for its quality nano treatments. Once again, they offer a product that is very easy to apply, and above all to wipe off. Little to no greasy haze to wipe away (provided you follow the application methods correctly).
In terms of consumption, after treating all glass surfaces (windshield in 2 coats), the 30ml bottle was approximately one third used. You can estimate 3–4 treatable vehicles per bottle.

The advertised durability remains to be verified, but Nanolex is generally known for announcing performance claims that hold up. They are moreover among the only ones to advertise durability in kilometers rather than years, which is far more relevant.

Ultra Glass is therefore a product to be strongly recommended for effective protection, especially if you regularly drive on highways and in all weather conditions (water evacuation from 60km/h).
