Description: Meguiar's finally releases its ferrous decontaminant after several years of development! Ultimate Wheel Cleaner (Ultimate Wheel Cleaner) will be a top-choice ally for cleaning your dirty to very dirty wheels, targeting ferrous particles embedded at the base of the spokes in particular.
Product available only in a 700ml bottle, ready to use.
Usage: Ultimate Wheel Cleaner is ideally used on a dirty wheel that has not been pre-wetted, in order to promote the product's action on the surface and allow it to dwell longer.
Be careful not to use on a hot wheel, as you risk leaving marks that are difficult to remove!
Spray Ultimate Wheel Cleaner directly onto the wheel. Let the product dwell for approximately 3-5 minutes and watch for a color change (purple) characteristic of ferrous decontaminants.
The first thing you notice about this product is its smell, or rather its absence of unpleasant odor — yet this is commonplace among all other ferrous decontaminants from competing brands. This is a big plus, knowing how unpleasant it is to breathe in the fumes of these products once sprayed...
One minor complaint: the sprayer, with a spray pattern that is not diffuse enough, which prevents you from treating a wide enough area and leads to over-consumption of product.
The texture is much less liquid than an IronX, which is also an advantage as it can work more deeply into the surface.
Let it work for a few minutes (until a dark purple haze appears) before scrubbing your wheels with your favorite brushes and detailing brushes.
Ultimate Wheel Cleaner creates a thick foam when agitated to properly emulsify contaminants. It works well and does not leave marks by drying too quickly.
Its effectiveness is quite staggering on test wheels that were ultimately rather poorly maintained (unpolished). It ranks among the best in terms of ferrous decontamination action. On heavily contaminated wheels, however, multiple passes with extra attention will be necessary (front wheels in particular).
Rinse your wheel thoroughly once scrubbed, ideally with a pressure washer.
Another notable point of Ultimate Wheel Cleaner is the finish left: glossy. We are still slightly behind Iron7HD but above average nonetheless.
General conclusion:
Ultimate Wheel Cleaner proves to be devastatingly effective against ingrained dust, whether your wheels are maintained or not. The biggest plus in my opinion about this product, where it makes a clear difference compared to competitors, is the absence of unpleasant odor.
Also, the finish left is excellent for a wheel product, giving the impression that the wheels come out polished.
The notable downside would be the price, which is significant relative to the product's packaging (€19.90 for 700ml, i.e. €28.50/L) but not excessive compared to other competing products.
In the end, a product from the brand's "Enthusiast" (hobbyist) range that would deserve its place in the Pro (Detailer) range. When will a pro gallon version be available?
