How to restore dull exterior plastics?
It is time to take care of those plastics dulled by time, which give a neglected appearance even to a freshly renovated car. Does the task seem complicated? Yet it is one of the simplest steps in Detailing. The maintenance products needed can be counted on one hand.
Why do plastics dull over time?
There are multiple answers to this question. But the main cause is discoloration linked to UV rays. The use of poor-quality washing products can also lead to discoloration of the plastics. That intense black quickly turns to grey.
Good news: this is not permanent discoloration — simply treating the exterior plastics is enough to restore their original intensity.
How to restore whitened plastics?
Restoring plastics is done in 2 steps. The first consists of cleaning the plastics in order to allow the restoration product to adhere. To do this, equip yourself with an APC (all-purpose cleaner) or a degreaser and apply it generously to the surface. If possible, brush to remove dirt and wipe with a microfiber cloth. 
Once the plastics are thoroughly clean, it is time to apply your exterior dressing. For this occasion, we chose the Slick from the French brand Fictech. The simplest method is to apply a few drops onto a foam applicator (here the W-APS) and spread it over the desired area. Once done, all you need to do is remove the excess with a microfiber cloth.
Exterior dressings generally have a lifespan of several weeks. A small hazelnut-sized amount is sufficient for this example. The bottle will therefore last you a long time. In addition to enhancing the look of your vehicle, this treatment will protect the plastics against UV rays.
