ClearCUT Compound - CARPRO

A polish in the Heavy-Compound category, it has the advantage of producing virtually no dust — a phenomenon widely encountered with well-known products from other manufacturers.

We will therefore test ClearCUT on severe cases with deep scratches, some even cutting through the paint, in order to observe its "cut" (abrasive power).

We draw your attention, however, to the fact that this product has a very high cut (abrasive power) and should be used with full knowledge of what you are doing, and ideally after carrying out a paint thickness measurement, to avoid cutting through the clear coat.

Instructions for use:

First, we test ClearCUT with a Medium pad (Medium pad green RUPES) on a RUPES Bigfoot LHR15 mkII polisher, on standard defects (widespread micro-scratches on repainted clear coat). Pour a peripheral circle of ClearCUT onto the pad, loading it a little more on first use.

Work the polish over an area of approximately 60x60cm to be effective, using straight cross passes. Start by spreading the polish at a slow to moderate speed (3-4) and progressively increase your speed until finishing at maximum speed.

After one pass, more than 95% of defects are removed, while leaving a very beautiful finish — certainly improvable with a finishing polish, but acceptable for a compound with such a high cut.

ClearCUT produces very, very little dust compared to other aggressive compounds from competitors, which is very appreciated by the Detailer, especially for the final clean-up.

Another example below on a fairly marked roof. The abrasive power of the compound and the finish it leaves are clearly visible.

In the test below, we will use ClearCUT on a UHS pad with a RUPES LHR75 Mini polisher, to restore a heavily marred area (in reality unrecoverable given the depth of the defects).

The wet sanding was carried out at 1500 grit without subsequently refining with 2000 or 3000 grit, in order to test ClearCUT on its ability to work back from heavy grain.

Same use as before — moderate speed first and maximum speed at the end of the work.

The photo below clearly shows the correction achieved. The white areas are zones where the paint has been removed and are unfortunately irreparable.

Finally, we tested ClearCUT on 1000 grit refinishing after polishing an area with quite a bit of orange peel, in order to evaluate its ability to remove the micro-grooves created by 1000 grit without refining afterwards with 2000 and 3000 grit for example.

Once again, ClearCUT is impressive in its cut and the finish it leaves, while being capable of working back from 1000 grit in a single pass with a UHS pad under heavy pressure. A finishing step is then required to restore maximum gloss, but the correction is definitely there.

Conclusion:

CARPRO offers here a powerful weapon to effectively and quickly remove the most severe defects. However, it should be used with great care, especially on original clear coats that have already undergone significant correction, at the risk of causing very serious damage.

Usable with very aggressive foam pads (foam-pads) (the UHS is perfect for this), or even with microfiber pads, it will even allow you to work back your wetsanding very easily.

Admittedly, its price may seem off-putting, but ultimately there is very little competition at this level of effectiveness while still leaving such a finish. Furthermore, we greatly appreciate the fact that it produces very little dust when cutting.
