Who among us has never wished for a quick, effective maintenance session with an excellent result? Everyone, of course.
This is perfect timing, as today we wanted to (re)introduce you to two excellent references from the American giant CHEMICAL GUYS: V07 Car Wash Soap & V07 Spray Sealant.

It's worth knowing that V07 is no longer just a single product (originally there was only V07 Spray Sealant) but you will now find a V07 Car Wash Soap (the shampoo), as well as a V07 Liquid Wax and finally a V07 Tyre Spray (tyre shine). It is therefore a complete range, just like the Signature Series range for example.



Let's test today the two flagship references of the range: V07 Spray Sealant and V07 Car Wash Soap.

V07 Car Wash Soap Usage:

We will first test V07 Car Wash Soap (shampoo) on a very dirty and poorly maintained test vehicle.

V07 Car Wash Soap is primarily a maintenance shampoo for a waxed (sealant) vehicle. It revives the sealant layer and leaves a very shiny finish. In this test, we will also see its degreasing capability on this very dirty surface.



The distinctive feature of Chemical Guys shampoos, and V07 Car Wash Soap is no exception, is their very high concentration. It is even among the highest concentrations of shampoos across all brands.

The direct result is that you will use less shampoo per wash, while maintaining sufficient cleaning efficiency and lubricating power.

The recommended dilution for V07 Car Wash Soap is 1:500. You will therefore measure 1oz (35ml) of shampoo in 5 US gal of water (18.9L)! This figure is quite staggering because you never fill your wash bucket with 19L of water. 8 to 10L of water is more than enough to wash a car, so you'll only need about 15ml of shampoo...




First observation: the smell. The shampoo smells of orange. This is pleasant because shampoos without any scent or with a chemical detergent smell — which does not contribute to the pleasure of washing your car — are all too common. A pleasant scent in a shampoo is important.

Another observation: the texture of the shampoo. You will notice that V07 Car Wash Soap is a very viscous shampoo, almost gel-like. This is undoubtedly the result of this product's extremely high concentration level.
However, the advantage is that the solution is homogeneous and not heterogeneous like the Citrus Wash&Gloss from the same brand, for example, which requires vigorous shaking before use.

Furthermore, V07 Car Wash Soap is an extremely foamy shampoo! Once again, this is a characteristic often found in the brand's shampoos, but watch out for the foam!
Therefore, we strongly recommend adding your shampoo to the bucket towards the end of filling it, otherwise you're guaranteed a foam party! (In the photo below, we had already skimmed off part of the foam so it would fit in the frame...)



Before starting to wash the very dirty surface, a pre-wash should be carried out. To do this, you can use V07 Car Wash Soap in your foam cannon. Also opt for a pH-neutral foaming agent such as Honeydew from the same brand.

Dilute approximately 25ml of V07 Car Wash Soap shampoo in the foam cannon with 80ml of Honeydew.







The solution is extremely foamy and clings well to the surface. The overall cleaning power remains fairly low however, especially given the condition of the surface. But at least you remove the worst of it and considerably soften your surface contaminants before proceeding with your manual wash.



Once thoroughly rinsed, proceed with the wash using the two-bucket method.

The glide of the wash mitt is assured, although it is not an extremely lubricating shampoo like the Citrus Wash&Gloss for example. The cleaning capacity of V07 Car Wash Soap is quite surprising for a maintenance shampoo.





There is yet another distinctive feature of this shampoo: its notable slick effect (the ability to bead and channel water away). This is a definite advantage as it prevents your drying microfibers from becoming saturated too quickly.

In the photos below, you can clearly see the water sheeting off at a few seconds' intervals.

The finish of the shampoo once the vehicle is dried is very shiny. It does not provide full protection on its own but contains shine-enhancing agents that bring out the depth of color.

This is an excellent maintenance shampoo that also has an excellent cleaning action. The salt rain marks and mud from the test car were removed effortlessly.

You will truly appreciate the slick effect of the shampoo, which will considerably ease the drying of the car with a microfiber or even a blower.


V07 Spray Sealant Presentation:

This is undoubtedly the flagship reference of CHEMICAL GUYS' V07 range and arguably one of the brand's greatest references.

V07 Spray Sealant is very versatile. You can use it on almost all surfaces.

This product can either be used to dust off your car without any risk if it has been stored without moving for several days, or to add an extra touch of shine with decent synthetic protection (a few weeks of protection).



The best possible use of V07 Spray Sealant in our opinion is as a Quick Wax post-wash during your regular maintenance sessions.

Simply spray V07 Spray Sealant onto the bodywork, ideally on a dry surface, and you will benefit from better protection. Then wipe with an ideally double-sided microfiber such as the Black Velvet or the Bloody Mary.

The great strength of V07 Spray Sealant is the ease of wiping and the hyper slick feel that results from it. You truly feel the microfiber gliding over the bodywork.

You can literally use V07 on all elements of your car (windows, painted or bare plastics, rims, etc.)

You will hardly find a faster and easier product to use than V07 Spray Sealant. It is one of our favorites here at Maniac Auto.
Moreover, the finish left is extremely shiny and will greatly enhance your car.
If you apply it after every wash, you won't need to wax your car, as the protection left by V07 Spray Sealant will be sufficient on its own (from a few days to a few weeks depending on driving conditions).





General conclusion on both products:

You can't go wrong using this V07 duo. Honestly. You'll find the ease of use of mass-market products with striking visual results. All in no time at all.
V07 Car Wash Soap is more expensive than a Mr Pink for example (€15.95 vs €9.95). True, but the question is whether the €6 difference is worth it. Visually, yes. V07 Car Wash Soap will bring a clear boost in shine. The slick effect is also more pronounced than on the Mr Pink.
Then it's a matter of personal preference. Brand enthusiasts will certainly find an essential justification there, whereas personally, the price difference in our opinion is hard to justify unless you have opted for the V07 protection (Liquid Wax) and want to stay "fully compatible".

Then, as far as V07 Spray Sealant is concerned, the justification for this product is easier. It IS the reference product at CHEMICAL GUYS. A product that every amateur or professional detailer has inevitably had to test at some point in their life. It's clearly flawless. Ease and versatility of application, effortless wiping even in the sun, the feel left behind, the shine...
The price may come as a shock: €22.95 for 473ml ready to use. However, it should be kept in mind that very little is needed and there's no need to apply it after every wash unless you're a true Maniac.
