Ceramic preparation of a Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS

Introduction:
We wanted to present this short article to show you how a motorcycle can be treated with ceramic: products, preparatory steps.
The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS entrusted to us was brand new and had only been ridden a few hundred kilometres.
Presentation:
Working on a motorcycle differs quite a lot from working on a car in the sense that everything is in the detail. The work is not necessarily shorter because you will spend a lot of time treating hard-to-reach areas with all kinds of shapes. Treating a two-wheeler is fascinating but requires patience.
After a full wash (pressure washer or standard hose), and drying, you will start by masking the various elements not to be polished as usual, and you will then polish the fairings.
These are often already full of micro-scratches, preparation holograms, etc. There is no way around it. Polishing the tank, especially on sports bikes where the rider's suit rubs against it, always presents micro-defects.
Depending on the quantity and depth of the defects, you will opt for an intensive polish or compound with dedicated pads. In our case on this Speed Triple, we chose GYEON's Q2M Polish with Yellow (medium) pads from FICTECH.
The result was unequivocal on this heavily metallic black. The 50/50 shots speak for themselves.
Then, after a finishing pass with GYEON's Q2 Primer, you will apply an alcohol-based degreasing solution to remove the polish oils and the protection left by Q2 Primer. We chose FICTECH's Paddock for our motorcycle. An excellent degreaser by the way, with a very pleasant smell.
Next comes the application of the ceramic treatment itself. We chose FICTECH's Car Lift Crystal treatment in this case for its durability and gloss. On motorcycles, which are heavily prone to fouling on the lower parts, do not hesitate to apply 3 layers of ceramic.
Car Lift Crystal can and should be applied to all varnished surfaces of the fairings. Avoid matte parts. Instead, opt for specific treatments for matte surfaces (GYEON Q2 Matte, FICTECH Car Lift classic) or apply a coat of FICTECH Rims.
You can then treat the rims, exhausts, frame and engine casings with a high-temperature ceramic such as FICTECH Rims. The latter will have significantly improved temperature resistance (+600°C) and will not yellow.
Another element that needs to be treated on a motorcycle because it is directly exposed to the sun, rain, bird droppings, etc.: the seat.
For this synthetic seat, we chose a ceramic treatment: GYEON Q2 Leather Shield. Originally designed for leather, this treatment works very well on synthetic leathers and vinyls.
Finally, finish your preparation with the application of a ceramic treatment for plastic parts and hoses such as FICTECH Restorer. Its re-pigmenting action will not be of use on a new motorcycle, but you will benefit from UV protection to prevent the surfaces from being too exposed to the sun in particular.
You can perfect your preparation with the application of hydrophobic treatments on the mirrors, possibly the windscreen, and apply a dressing to the tyre sidewalls (optional and not recommended on sports bikes given the narrow tread and the angle of the contact patch used).
After all these efforts, your motorcycle will be perfectly protected, ready to take on the road for your sporting or leisure rides.
