AUTOFINESSE offers a truly effective combination with a spectacular finish to nourish older paintwork in particular and protect it durably, while delivering a finish worthy of the finest carnaubas.

On fairly old paintwork that has never undergone a polishing (nourishing) treatment, it is advisable to use a glaze (polish) to restore the oils the paint has lost over time. A pure glaze contains no abrasive particles and will therefore not correct minor defects. It serves solely to nourish the paintwork.

Thus, Ultra Glaze by AUTO FINESSE is essentially composed of oils and presents two liquid phases in the bottle.

The Fusion protective wax from the same brand serves to protect the paintwork and create a hydrophobic film, making future cleaning easier.

Instructions for use: Ultra Glaze

Before using Ultra Glaze, shake the bottle well to homogenize the solution inside.

You then have the option of using the glaze either by machine or by hand. Personally, we prefer manual application, which ultimately proves more practical, especially in tight areas that are difficult to reach by machine without changing the backing plate.

Application is done either with a microfibre pad (such as the Ultra-Soft Applicator by MOTHERS) or with a simple foam pad like the W-APS by CHEMICAL GUYS, which we prefer.

Pour a few drops of product directly onto the pad without overloading it. The glaze is very oily and there is no need to apply a thick coat, as the glaze works on contact.

Then apply Ultra Glaze panel by panel using circular motions and straight passes. Let it sit for a few moments and then wipe off. You can treat the entire vehicle if you prefer, but there is no need to leave a glaze on too long — you will gain no additional benefit compared to a quick wipe-off.

Use a long-pile microfibre to wipe off the glaze (ideally a Bloody Mary, for example). Buffing (wiping off) the product is effortless if you let it sit for only a short time on your paintwork. If needed, do a second wipe with the reverse side of the microfibre.

A single coat is enough to nourish your paintwork.

The finish of a glaze is always very oily and deep. Ultra Glaze is no exception. Once your glaze is applied, you must apply a protective wax coat, as the glaze does not protect on its own.

Instructions for use: Fusion wax

The Fusion wax, as its name suggests, is a hybrid wax blending both carnauba and polymer chains to offer the benefits of both types of protection: the look of carnauba and the durability of a synthetic.

Presented in a pouch and a metal tin, the appearance is already premium.

The Fusion wax has a softer texture than some carnaubas or other hybrid waxes. However, especially if the wax has been stored in a fairly cool place, spray a little Quick Detailer or clay lubricant onto your foam pad before applying it to the bodywork.

The wax is therefore applied onto a foam pad (W-APS by CHEMICAL GUYS) by lightly rubbing the surface against it.

Then always work in circular motions along straight passes without pressure. Make sure to cover your passes fully, leaving no uncovered area. A thin film is enough — there is once again no need to apply too much, as it would waste product and you will gain no additional advantage in terms of durability or finish. It is better to apply two thin coats than one thick coat.

Fusion will not whiten your plastics or seals if you accidentally go over them.

Wipe off the wax about one minute after application using a thick microfibre (Bloody Mary, for example). Wipe-off is really very easy and worthy of the best carnaubas on the market.

If you wish, you can take the car outside for about an hour in the sun to let the wax "sweat" and then do a second wipe to remove the oil bleed.

A second coat is possible after 3-4 hours depending on temperature conditions.

Our opinion:

The Ultra Glaze/Fusion combination is truly a powerful weapon for treating older paintwork and giving it a really spectacular look. All of this, combined with a disarmingly easy application process, makes these two products suitable both for beginners looking for something simple to apply and for seasoned professionals seeking a "Show Car" look for their most demanding clients who use their vehicle infrequently.

The durability of the Fusion wax, claimed to last several months, will no doubt need to be adapted depending on the owner's use of the car, but applied in two coats, Fusion should comfortably last 2-3 months.

There is still the price of the wax, which may put some people off. Quite honestly, the low product consumption, ease of application/wipe-off and the finish left by the Fusion are well worth the price for anyone who wants to look after their car as best as possible.
