ANGEL WAX Enigma Elixir

Angel Wax continues to expand its Enigma range, composed exclusively of ceramic-based products, with a brand new tyre dressing: Elixir. This product promises exemplary long-term durability compared to other tyre dressings on the market. Enigma Elixir will also be suitable for treating all bare exterior plastics and exterior seals.

We will therefore study the application process of this dressing as well as the result in this test.
The tyres under test are Avon brand for the rear axle and Hankook for the front.


Using Enigma Elixir:

Enigma Elixir clearly states the composition of the dressing on the label. There is therefore no room for confusion. It should be noted that there are not many dressings on this base currently on the market (Gyeon Tire, Carpro Perl...) unlike all the others which are purely silicone- or water-based.



Before any use of Enigma Elixir, you must thoroughly degrease your tyre sidewalls. Do not hesitate to use your preferred degreaser, either pre-diluted or in ready-to-use form (such as the Gyeon Tire Cleaner used in this test). Scrub with a brush or microfibre to remove all dirt present, otherwise Enigma Elixir will not bond properly.


Your tyre sidewalls must be absolutely dry and clean before application.
Then, spray Enigma Elixir directly onto a foam or microfibre tyre applicator. Avoid spraying it directly onto the tyre sidewall, as you risk getting it on the wheel and forgetting to wipe it off afterwards.



On application, you realise that Enigma Elixir is very liquid, much less greasy than its direct ceramic-based competitors. As a result, it spreads very well.



However, you notice that the tyre absorbs the product very quickly and can tend to leave streaks. It is therefore strongly recommended to apply 2 coats of Enigma Elixir, the first coat serving to seal the surface in a way.

The tyre comes out a deep black without being too flashy. If needed, you can very lightly wipe off any excess with an all-purpose microfibre.


As I mentioned earlier, Angel Wax recommends applying 2 coats of Enigma Elixir for greater durability.

Beyond the increased durability, it is mainly that the coat will be more visually uniform. Indeed, after the first coat, and depending on the tyre manufacturer you are treating, you may see some product streaks. The second coat applied will fill in this phenomenon (visible in the photo below in the area without writing).



The trick to help the first coat penetrate properly is to heat it. You can do this using a heat gun or a hair dryer if necessary.



The final result after this second coat is better. Little or no product streaking remains, the hydrophobic effect is immediately present as well. You can clearly feel that Enigma Elixir seals the porosity of the material to prevent it from getting dirty too quickly, thus facilitating your future washes.





Conclusion:

Enigma Elixir proves to be a fairly technical product to use if you want a perfect result. A thorough degreasing will be required if you want to benefit from very good durability.
We do not yet have hindsight on the durability of this product, but Angel Wax announces several weeks where tyre dressings based on other molecules barely last more than a few days.

The finish left by Enigma Elixir is very good — slightly more satin than the original but still remaining soft. We also recommend applying two coats for a perfectly uniform appearance.

Finally, let us talk about the price. Enigma Elixir is sold at over €32 for 500ml, making it an expensive product, at least considerably more expensive than its direct competitors.

A product that will ultimately suit those looking for complete ceramic protection on a vehicle regardless of the surface. Let us recall that Enigma Elixir can be used to treat your exterior bare plastics and also your window seals for example.
