ALCHIMY7 is a truly well-known and recognized brand in the preparatory stages of vehicle detailing before polishing or applying protection in particular. These essential steps of pre-washing and washing must not be overlooked and contribute enormously to the quality of all the work that follows.

Thus the French brand offers 4 pre-wash agents depending on the needs of detailers. Among them are "soft" pre-wash foams that do not attack waxes, as well as more "hard" ones that on the contrary prioritize maximum degreasing.

Today, we will focus on EM7, a pre-wash solution that offers several advantages, notably its strong bug removal power. An ideal solution therefore during the preparation phase of an untreated vehicle.

The test vehicle chosen has no particular protection and features a front end with many squashed insects, bird droppings, etc. A perfect base to test EM7.






Usage:

There are therefore several possible uses for EM7. Three in total. The first as a simple bug remover. The second during the pre-wash phase using a foam cannon (foam-lance type) and finally the last during the wash phase using the two-bucket method.

The advantage of EM7 is that it is available in large packaging ranging from 1L up to 5L with a very economical dilution ratio.



First, we will use EM7 as a simple bug remover. To do this, simply dilute approximately one measuring cap (50ml) of EM7 in a 600ml dilution bottle (approximately 1:10 dilution).

First observation: the smell. EM7 is fragranced and the smell is very pleasant. Much more pleasant than M7 for example, which is more chemical with a fairly pronounced potash (alkaline base) smell.
It may seem like a small thing, but the fragrance of products is very pleasant for a user who regularly uses these products. We appreciate it!



The solution is then sprayed onto the front end, including mirrors and windshield. Leave it to work for a few seconds. You immediately notice that the insect residue and other droppings dissolve very quickly, without effort or mechanical action. A very good point! The bug removal action is therefore well present and very effective.







This use as a bug remover is essential on a vehicle with a very heavy coating even before pre-washing it with your foam-lance. The concentration of the product despite the economical dilution (1:10 as mentioned) is higher than in the foam-lance and therefore the action will be much more effective.


Next, we will test EM7 in its primary role as a full vehicle pre-wash. This product is recommended in a foam cannon (foam-gun or foam-lance) but can also be used in a pre-pressurized sprayer (resistant to alkaline agents such as the Kwazar Venus for example) for those who do not have a pressure washer.

In our case, we will dilute one measuring cap of EM7 (55ml) in a full foam-lance tank (1L). This gives us a ratio of approximately 1:20.
ALCHIMY7 recommends a possible dilution of between 40 and 90ml.





Setting the lance to maximum opening, the amount of foam produced is very large. Too much even. We need to reduce the opening so that the foam thickness is not too great and there is some run-off of the film.



Below is a shot with the new setting.



EM7 still gives off a pleasant smell. Also, by reducing the amount of solution drawn in, the full tank is more than enough to cover the entire car (Porsche Macan). There is even enough left for a second full pass.

Through the foam film, you can see that the layer of bugs is still lifting off.
We let the foam film sit for more than 3 minutes until the curtain breaks.



You then proceed to rinse the car completely with a pressure washer and do not hesitate to leave EM7 on for a shorter time if weather conditions are harsh (hot and sunny weather in particular).

It should be noted however that the pure degreasing action on road grime on the lower panels and various mud streaks is much less effective than with M7. The latter has less bug removal action certainly, but is more effective on road grime.



Last possible use of EM7: washing with the two-bucket method.
ALCHIMY7 recommends a dilution of between 0.5 and 2%, which is really very economical.
We will dilute 25ml of product in a 10L bucket in our case, as the vehicle still has quite a lot of contamination after pre-washing and we want maximum degreasing power.



EM7 is not as lubricated as M7 (less viscous). It reduces the glide of the wash mitt less but is still perfectly suitable for this step. However, you will not be able to use EM7 during the decontamination phase for lubricating your mitt, unlike M7 for example.

The result after a complete wash of the car is impeccable; the visual result of EM7 far surpasses that of M7.
The layer of contaminants (bugs on the front end, road grime on lower panels) is gone.

The vehicle is thus ready for future decontamination.



Conclusion on EM7:

ALCHIMY7 clearly presents a pre-wash product different from the others (SF, D7, M7). What clearly emerges after this test is the undeniable bug removal capability of EM7 compared to the others. You can even forgo using a dedicated bug remover, as EM7 at an economical dilution will fulfil this function.

Next comes the question of choosing between EM7 and M7, as the two products can seem quite similar. M7 really has a superior cleaning action. EM7 will therefore be less effective at removing road grime from lower panels. Both alkaline-based products should not be used during the maintenance phase of an existing protection, especially M7.

Available at a similar price to M7 (€14.90 per 1L for EM7 compared to €15.90 for M7), it is clear that EM7 remains a very economical product in use given its high dilution ratios. Even more so if you opt for the gallon versions.
But it is really the versatility of this product that wins you over. The smell is also a plus for professionals who tend to use these products regularly.

EM7, M7… a winning duo, at a very competitive price for both. Why hold back?...
