The MD 666 paint coating thickness gauge, manufactured by the German company ETARI GmbH.
The MD-666 measures paint thickness on both ferrous (magnetic) and non-ferrous (non-magnetic, aluminium) metals.

More commonly known as a PTG or "paint thickness tester", it is a measuring device used to determine the thickness between the metal panel and the surface of the clear coat.
This device is perfect for quickly detecting differences in paint layer thickness.
It is the essential tool before and during the polishing stage (clear coat correction) in order to minimize the risk of cutting through the clear coat.
